Some Memories

Today I have been thinking a lot about some of my favorite memories. At Sunday dinner my Aunt Laura asked each of us to think of one day that we would go back and relive if we could. We recorded it on a tape for my brother and my cousin Bre Anne who are both on missions. They are going to be sent to them in their Christmas packages. It was fun to sit around and think of memories.

When I was trying to think of one day that I would want to relive I couldn't really think of one day that stood out in my mind. I thought of many many moments. I thought about moments with people mostly. I decided to share a few of these with you. I am going to put these short stories in categories so it will be a little organized because they probably will not be chronological.

FAMILY

I have the fondest memories of my family and I jet skiiing. I remember one time my mom, dad, Stephen and I each were on our own jet ski and were riding around the glassy lake water up in McCall, ID. After we cruised around a bit all of us stopped in the middle of the lake and just had a great conversation while we enjoyed the amazing beauty and peace surrounding us. It was really cool.

MOM

My mom would always do the most amazing things for my birthdays. Every year all of my friends would look forward to my birthday because I would bring the best treats to school and I would have the best parties. Mom would make this really awesome treats that she put in a flower pot. It would have ice cream, with crushed oreo on top, and a gummy worm, then a pretty fake flower stuck in it. It was the cutest and yummiest treat ever! She always put so much work into them. My birthday parties were always so fun, too. A few years we did a Hawaiian theme and everyone would get a lei when they arrived. Then we would have tiki torches around the pool and everyone would swim. It was so fun.

I have the best Mom. I remember in High School I use to call her all of the time and ask her to bring me something that I had forgotten. She was so great, she would always drop whatever she was doing and drive to the school to bring me whatever I needed.

DAD

When we were little kids when were on vacation, Dad would take Stephen and I to whatever long hallway he could find and have us run up and down it for like 5 or 10 minutes. It was his way of having us burn some energy, haha. We thought it was so fun.

My dad use to drive me to school everyday in Junior High. I was so spoiled I didn't have to take the bus to school in the mornings, just home from school. He was going to work so I was on the way. It was really fun. I remember we use to argue about whether to have the heat go on our feet or our faces. He wanted it on our feet I wanted it on our faces. I also remember one morning we were listening to a Beatles CD and "Paperback Writer" came on. I instantly fell in love with the song and listened to it over and over the whole drive until I memorized it.

STEPHEN

Stephen and I are best friends. I have so many great memories with him. One time when my family was in Utah, I think I may have been a freshman, in the summertime (not positive but it was warmer weather), Stephen and I went for a drive in the Yukon. I have a place in Utah that I call "My Spot" and it is an undeveloped road in a neighborhood up on the hill below the "Y" that is a great lookout spot. Anyway, Stephen and I drove up to my spot and parked the car. We opened the sunroof and climbed up and sat on top of the car while one of our favorite bands was still playing. We listened to the music, overlooked Provo, sang, and talked about life. It was a really great time.

Stephen was such a good brother. I use to push his buttons so much and he was always so nice to me. But one time I pushed his buttons a little too much. Then he grabbed my hair and dragged me across the entire catwalk by my hair. I was screaming, but I probably deserved it, haha.

SADIE

When we were younger, probably elementary and early junior high, we use to go visit our cousins in Gooding, ID quite a bit. My cousin Sadie had a horse named Ginger. It was so fun to watch her take care of her horse. Sadie's best friend Amy also had horses. When I came to visit the three of us use to take two horses out and ride them around. I thought it was the coolest thing ever! One time Sadie and Amy made up a story about how I needed to take the horse by myself and go get something from somewhere because it was some sort of emergency, haha. I don't really remember the story. But I remember I was kind of scared to ride the horse by myself. They sent my on my way all by myself. I was doing just fine though. A little bit later I could hear Sadie and Amy walking and talking behind me! Those sneaky girls were following me the whole time. It was really funny though. After I caught them all of us walked together and kept singing the song...oh man I remembered just a second ago but I forgot! Something about moon and stars, it was some boy band song. I don't remember, but that was fun.

I went through a phase where I road tripped to Rexburg a few times to go hang out with some friends that I had going to school there. Sadie was still going to school there at that time. I think it was her last year. I stayed with her when I went to visit and it was so fun to hang out with her! I remember one time we went salsa dancing up on campus. We didn't know how to salsa dance but it was a lot of fun!

BRETT

Two summers ago Brett and I did a road trip to So Cal to help Sadie and Scott move. We left Provo at 2AM and took turns driving all night. We got to Sadie and Scott's place at 10AM. We showered and got ready then took off to go to Palm Desert to hang out with my best friend Jeni and her cute little family. It was August so it was crazy hot. My poor little car's AC was NOT working. So Brett and I were dying from heat because it was like 113 degree weather! We stayed the night at Jeni's and the next day before we hit the road to head back to Utah we dropped by Walmart to get some stuff to fix the AC haha. Needless to say we would have died if we didn't because in the desert between So Cal and Vegas it his 122 degrees outside!! Isn't that nuts!?

One time when Brett came down to Utah to visit he was staying at John and Gina's. I went over there and picked him up and we went down to the Gateway Mall in Salt Lake. We got some ice cream at the Haagen Daz shop right there. Then we went back to John and Gina's and talked for a couple of hours. We always had really good conversations, he is seriously one of my best friends.

I think it was the second time that we had the family reunion at Alturus Lake we went jet skiing. This was when we couldn't jet ski on Alturus Lake we had to go down the road a bit. But Brett and I rode the jet ski together, we were on the blue one, and we cruised all over the lake taking turns driving. We also went over to the resort lodge that was on that lake and walked around and talked for a while. We might have even gotten some food or something.

I am super tired so I am going to go to bed. But I will keep updated this blog for sure!

11 Days of Relaxation...I Hope

This semester I have my classes schedule on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays. At BYU the week of Thanksgiving we get Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off of school and Tuesday they are doing Friday's class schedule. SO basically I get 11 days of vacation for Thanksgiving!

Yes that is Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday! yaaaaaayyyy!

I am so excited! It is already day 2 of my extra long Thanksgiving break. Friday I slept in until 11:00AM which was amazing because I haven't been sleeping well at night and I needed the rest. Then I cleaned my whole apartment and my bedroom. Then I went and ran as many errands as I could squeeze in before I had to leave town to meet up with my mom! I went to the BYU library and turned in my book only to recheck it out. I was supposed to pay like $20 in late fees but because it was the first time I have had a late fee (and I'm pretty sure only the 2nd time I have used the library's resources in my 4 1/2 years at college, haha) they waived the late fee! Yes! Then I ran over to pay my parking tickets. I got one of my two tickets waived too, which was great. I really am a stinker when it comes to parking illegally on BYU campus. Then I went to the Health Center and filled some perscriptions and made an appointment for a flu shot. If you haven't done that yet you should! Then I ran up to Costco to get this vitamin called BIO 35 which has tons of vitamins, minerals, and omega things that are supposed to be amazing for your energy. I'll keep you posted on how that works for me. After Costco I rushed home to throw stuff in my suit case and get out of town.

I was so excited to finally leave town. If you know me well at all you know that I have a travel bug and I would be somewhere new every weekend if I could be. But this semester I have been SO busy with school I have not even left Utah or Salt Lake counties since school started! Isn't that crazy! So now I am finally out of the state of Utah. I am pretty sure we are going back there to spend Thanksgiving with my Utah family though. Oh well, that will be fun and at least I left the state for a few days :)

I definitely have been able to get some down time in though. All day Saturday I just lounged around and watched TV and went out to lunch with my Mom. I love relaxing and hanging out with my family. It is my favorite thing ever! However, before this break is over I do have several things that I need to get done. Hopefully I don't go overboard on the relaxation and "forget" to accomplish somethings, haha.

70's Disco Skating!

Friday night was a ton of fun! My ward had a party at the Classic Skating rink. Everyone dressed up in 70's attire and we skated the night away. It was so fun to dance around while we skated in circles. Everyone really got to know each other better too. You could go up to pretty much anyone and hold their hand as you skated around because that is what you do when you skate! Needless to say I held about half of the ward members' hands last night, guys and girls, haha. We had a blast. I wish I had more pictures!

After Classic Skating all of us neighbors came home and swapped massages while we talked until 4AM. I love my neighbors, the coolest guys and girls ever!

I'm a Newby

I have never had a blogspot. I have always been more of a MySpace of Facebook kind of gal, but I think that's just a big part of my generation. I decided to wanted to create a blogspot because there a lot of people that aren't on MySpace of Facebook that may want to see what I am up to every now and then? I am still single and doing the college thing, I don't have a husband or kids to tell funny stories about. But I can do my best to entertain you with my college experiences! I am not sure how good I will be at keeping this updated. But I promise to do my best! I hope you enjoy! Love you guys!
